Description - Omantel has announced it is to become the gold sponsor of the forthcoming Tour of Oman international cycling race that will attract 128 of the world’s best cyclists to the Sultanate. The even is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 19. A total of 16 of the 20 teams who compete in the world’s most famous cycling event — Tour de France — will be present for the six day Tour that will have stages in the Muscat, Al Batinah, Al Dakhliyah and Dhahirah region offering some of the country’s most challenging terrain to the international cycling superstars.
Omantel has always supported the big sporting occasions in Oman and is delighted to have pledged its full support to the six-day festival of cycling that is being brought to the Sultanate by the organisers of the Tour de France. The latest major sponsorship from the company is a continuation of Omantel’s enduring and long-lasting commitment to being a socially responsible company that is dedicated to supporting events of all kinds that help the development of the country.
Commenting on their support for the race, Omantel’s Senior Manager for Events and Sponsorship, Hamdan Moosa al Harasi said: “Omantel is very proud to have given our support to what will be one of the biggest international sporting events ever to have been staged in the Sultanate. “The Tour of Oman is a superb way to help launch the celebrations for Oman’s 40th anniversary and will allow regions across the nation to experience and enjoy the excitement and Omantel is very excited to making a major contribution to the success of this event that will help promote the country internationally,” Al Harasi said. He added that the Tour of Oman is an event that will help to bring the nation together and connect people across the nation through a shared love of sport.
