Oman was overjoyed last Friday when Oman Sail’s Masirah snatched the inaugural title in the first ever Extreme Sailing Series Asia grand finale which the Sultanate proudly hosted. At the international event which the two participating Omani teams, Masirah and The Wave, Muscat, excelled in both the Muscat-leg and the series, public also experienced the Muscat 2010 sports programme at Extreme Beach Party featuring beach soccer, beach sepaktakraw, beach volleyball, beach woodball, and sailing.

Over 400 have registered for the Muscat Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (MABGOC) Volunteers programme. “Through this exciting event, Oman has also shown our love of sport and nature, and our eagerness in hosting the eco-friendly 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010! We had our very first group of 25 volunteers supporting us in creating public awareness of the Muscat 2010 Games, and signing up new volunteers who will form the backbone of the Games success in December 2010,” said MABGOC Director-General Habib Abdulnabi Macki.

“MABGOC would like to thank everyone who supported the 2nd Asian Beach Games and our volunteers programme, especially for their great enthusiasm, smile and dedication which sparked interest among the public, motivating more to become part of the fantastic Muscat 2010 Volunteers team! “ he added. Adding to previous efforts, MABGOC has now received over 1,000 registrations for the Muscat 2010 Volunteers programme, supporting areas such as Sports, Venues, Games Services, Protocol, IT, Media Services, Broadcasting, Marketing, Accreditation, Human Resources, Ceremonies, and Medical Services.

All interested who are 18 years and older, with related backgrounds who would like to utilise their skills and acquire additional training, are welcome to join the programme while garnishing experiences through their valuable contribution to the success of the 2nd Asian Beach Games to be held in December 2010.
