OFA organises match commissioners workshop

Date - 9/2/2010
Description -

The Match Commissioners workshop, organised by the Oman Football Association (OFA), concluded at the Seeb Stadium Conference Hall yesterday. A new system of match reporting was also introduced and a lot of discussions over the current state of the match commissioners and the steps needed to improve them were also discussed during the workshop.

Talal al Amri, member of OFA board and Chairman of the Match Commissioners Committee, gave a welcoming speech at the start of the conference and was also very keen on answering any queries and taking in suggestions from the participants on what needs to be done in order to reach the professionalism required by the match commissioners for the future of the game.

"This meeting is very important to both sides, we as the OFA are always keen on developing the skills and knowledge of the staff and officials of the game, and from what I have seen today, the officials themselves are also very keen on making  sure that they are up to date with the current rules and regulations of Fifa. I am very delighted to see that progress is being

made in all aspects of football in Oman and our committee is working tirelessly to make sure that we can provide the officials with the correct and up to date information as well as the  necessary tools to ensure development of football in Oman," said Talal.  At the end of the workshop a 40-minute game was shown on the screen and the participants got a chance to use the new procedures and forms on reporting a match. The keen interest shown by both sides of this workshop is just one example of the efforts that are being put in by both the OFA officials to develop football not just as a sport but as an industry in the Sultanate.
