Description - Oman’s tennis sensation Fatma al Nabhani came up with sterling performance to win four consecutive qualifying matches and make it to the main draw of the $10,000 Antalya Futures tournament in Turkey. A delighted Fatma speaking from Turkey said: “I am playing well and hope to continue with the same form in the main draw as well.”
In the qualifying event, Fatma opened her campaign with a hard-fought win over Slovakia’s Chantal Skamlova 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. In the second round, she took on the top-seeded Galina Fokina but outplayed her Russian rival for a 6-2, 6-3 victory. In the next round, she took on another Russian, Elina Gasanova and had to overcome stiff challenge before emerging 6-1, 7-6 (7-6) winner.
The fourth and final round was against Romania’s Diana Enache, which she won in straight tie-breaker sets 7-6, 7-6. “It was one of the toughest draws ever I have played and winning all the four matches is a great achievement for me,” said Fatma.
